I agree that a lot of independent artists are not doing enough to get there material out in front of viewers who will potentially buy their music and merchendise. Most have established a presence on Myspace. I would like to offer up another solution for creating a digital strategy. Veeple.com is a tool designed to place interactive links on top of flash video. It would be a great way for independent artists to make the most out of their online videos. Even if that video is just a graphic of their latest CD cover, they can still create links on top of the video that guide the viewers back to the band's website, to itunes, to more information, to merch, or whatever. Artists need to get paid for what they do. Using tools like Veeple would help bring in more fans and more income, while the analytics engine keeps track of their fans interests.
